Olympic Weekend, Day 2

We woke up on Sunday morning to a world entirely different from the one we fell asleep in. Our sunny beach was gone, socked in completely with fog. We cooked sausage over the Coleman grill, then packed up and turned our wheels back to Highway 112, turning onto 113 to take 101 back to Port Angeles. Our one stop on the way was at Lake Crescent. We decided that we're coming back some day to hike in this area!

Instead of going up to Hurricane Ridge and risking missing our boat, we hiked out onto Dungeness Spit near Sequim. It's a thin curl of land that extends northeast from the Olympic Peninsula towards home. We spent a few sunny hours walking a few miles down the beach and back. The entire way we could see Mt Baker lording over Skagit Valley and in the reverse direction Hurricane Ridge protecting Pt Angeles.

The last stop was at Ft Worden to explore the Spanish War fortifications.

And for those who are as nerdy as me, here's a map of our route!
