MWRT part 9: Heber Valley

The reunion was held at Soldier Hollow, the site of the XC Ski and Biathlon events in the Salt Lake City Olympic games in 2002. The site was renovated after the games to include two golf courses to give those with summer homes in Midway something to do. We took advantage of the many snow free XC ski paths for regular walks after meals.

The train platform that was put in to receive passengers who took the historic Heber Valley railroad to Soldier Hollow for events. For myself and M, it was one of the few shady spots where we could escape the heat. The concrete platform remained shaded throughout the day, and a cool breeze off the reservoir provided welcome respite.

On our way out of the valley on Saturday morning, we drove around the reservoir and down towards Orem and Provo. On the way, we wound around the nearby peak Mt Timpanogos. Maybe in two years, during the next family reunion, we'll hike it instead of walking the XC ski paths!
