MWRT part 10: Boise and the way home

On Saturday afternoon we drove out of Utah and headed up I-15 towards Idaho. It was a fairly quick drive, and we made good time in the heat and wind. At one point, we raced a thunderstorm across southern Idaho and watched lightning strike on our left, blue sky on our right. We drilled 8 tumbleweed as we drove through the dust cloud and came back into a sunny sky.

We broke our drive home into two chunks, overnighting at the Boise Guest House on the way.Of course, this meant a walk down to Bar Gernika for some Basque food. M had never had Kroketa, but I think they won him over. He offered to finish mine. He wasn't so keen on my Kalimotxo!

On our way "home" that evening we wandered through downtown. As usual, people were out and about in the plazas, but near the captiol building we ran into a barrier in the street. They were having a road bike race!

Downtown was blocked off for about 3x1 blocks, and the bikers went around and around. I don't know much about bike racing, but the teams flashed by every few minutes. A police escort would cruise by on a motorcycle, and with a rush of wind the pack would be gone. What a rush!

We drove home the next morning. There was a bit of a backup on the pass, but we finally rolled home in time to unpack before bed and preparing for the next adventure...
