MWRT Part 3: Going to the Sun

It was nearly too hot to sleep at Many Glacier, but we woke up in the morning ready to hike. Since we had such a solid dinner the night before, we decided to hit the road as soon as the sun hit our 3rd story window and head for the St Mary Lake.

Good morning and goodbye, Many Glacier!
As we drove down to the park entrance, we passed a traffic jam of campers and cars blocking the road. Some people were standing next to their cars and pointing cameras up the hill, where a bear was making his way across the rocks. The photographers waved wildly at us and pointed up the hill, mouthing "Bear! Bear!" at our closed car windows. The bear was just doing his morning thing. The tourists were the more entertaining sight!

At the park entrance and start of Going to the Sun Road, we pulled over and made breakfast: "Super Oats" in the back of the car. There's nothing like oats with peanut butter and a swirl of mini chocolate chips to kick off a day of hiking! We washed it down with Starbucks Via coffee, and then began the climb up to Logan Pass.

At the top of our drive, we reached the Pass. The parking lot was packed, so we drove back down the road just a few hundred meters and found a pull-out with a Rav4 sized space. Then we hiked back up the hill. Highline trail was open, so we decided to do an out and back hike...
