Merry Christmas to Us...

M and I have really hard times shopping for each other. We both work full time, share expenses, and have no debt. If one of us needs something, we shop, find a deal, and buy it for ourselves. When we find something cool for the other person, we don't have to wait for an "occasion" to give it as a gift. So this year, we asked for memories from each other. This is what we decided on: a weekend in Seattle.

Breakfast with a View from Lowell's

We decided to stay in the center of downtown and wander on foot. It was lightly snowing silver flakes as we hiked up Pike street in search of coffee and books. After a re-caffeination at Victrola Coffee, we arrived at Elliot Bay Books. This is one of my favorite places in Seattle - an old warehouse on Capitol Hill, huge timber trusses with pillars of books all around. We walked out with a textbook on consciousness and Man's Search for Meaning.

Our dinner stop was at Rhein Haus, just a few blocks from Elliot Bay Books. Their motto is "Bocce, Beir, Brats," and we enjoyed them in that order. We played 2 games of bocce, each winning one game 15-13. Marcus almost came back from a 2-11 deficit to catch me, but I took it in the end!

We had originally planned to spend the whole afternoon at GameWorks, but after an hour or two of being defeated by self-shifting Ferraris and eaten by Jurassic Park dinosaurs, we decided to walk down to Pacific Place and see Rogue One. It was good, but I don't want to say too much... go see it!

Complete focus...
In the morning, we walked to Pikes Place Market and had our breakfast with a view at Lowell's, which we followed up with coffee and pain au chocolate (chocolate croissant) at 3 Girls Bakery. Our trip home had one more adventure in it: a stop by the new Whidbey Coffee in Burlington for coffee and reading our new books by the fireplace. What a way to end the weekend!
