Another Christmas in Quebec City (aka, M. leaves the USA)

Almost a year ago I asked M if he would join me at my company's Christmas party in 2015. At that time, he didn't have a passport and was vehemently opposed to airplanes. True to his word, we touched down in Quebec together last Saturday. That left Sunday to explore the walled city before I had to go to work on Monday. (Apologies for the poor photo quality. All were taken on our phones!)

First Quebecois breakfast: Crepe! (we went back 2 more times...)

The weather was surprisingly warm, unlike the year before. We were comfortable as we wandered the walls and looked out over a gray St. Lawrence river.

Chateau Frontinac ("Look at the castle!" -"It's more of a palace...")
In the evening, we walked down to le Petit Champlain, around the "Catch me if you can" church, and back through the lower city.

While I was at work, M was on his own. He ran around the city, visited the nearby coffee shops,  read, drew, and generally explored. In his words, "now I understand why you want to learn French!" As soon as you are a half kilometer beyond the touristy city walls, you hear only French spoken.

On Tuesday, M joined me at work. We had hands-on training with several different types of digital  metrology equipment. Several people (including the founder) asked "who's the new Application Specialist you're working with?"

Eventually I will find the photo that the official photographer took of us at the company Christmas party... until then, the only photo I have of that night is M inside a jail cell. Yep, the fine art museum in Quebec City is part of the old jail.

The last day  in Quebec was  brilliantly  sunny. We finished packing, then went for a final walk along the wall. After stopping for a last bacon cheddar crepe at our favorite place, we packed up the van (with Swedes and a Catalan) and said "au revoir" to Quebec.
